Favor the center-left off the tee to avoid early trouble and give yourself a clean angle in. This is a “settle in” hole — don't chase birdie, just find the fairway and take your par. It plays a long carry over the wetlands off the tee.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the par and yardage of the St. James Bay course?+
Par 72, 18 holes. From the Black tees the course plays 7,002 yards (course rating 72.0 / slope 143). The other tees measure Blue 6,376, White 5,820, Green 5,300, and Red 4,209 yards — so there's a comfortable set for every game.
Which is the signature hole?+
Hole 17 — a picturesque par 3 framed by water. Pick your number, trust your club, and commit; anything tentative tends to end up wet. It's where many rounds swing, and easily the most photographed hole on the course.
Are there other Florida golf courses near St. George Island?+
Yes — including the Port St. Joe area courses. St. James Bay is the closest Audubon Signature Sanctuary course to St. George Island and the only one with on-site resort lodging.
Who designed the course?+
Robert Walker designed the par-72 layout in close collaboration with the Audubon Society's Signature Sanctuary program — that's why every hole is positioned to preserve the wetlands rather than dominate them.
What's the dress code?+
Standard country club casual — collared shirts and soft spikes. Call the Pro Shop at (850) 697-9606 with specific questions.
Are walking and twilight rates available?+
Yes. Twilight and replay rates vary seasonally; check the booking system or call the Pro Shop for current pricing.
